Easy 15-Minute Installation Fits Any Size Vent Pipe, No Roof Holes Required Includes 2-Speed Switch, Wiring, All Installation Hardware, Complete Instructions One-Year Warranty
Here's a neat idea: Lil' Stanker MK-IV Holding Tank Deodorizer Fans replace the original plastic or metal vent pipe caps on your RV's roof. Inside each MK-IV is a small 12 volt electric fan that creates a slight vacuum in your black and/or greywater tanks. This gentle, continous suction draws odors outdoors, preventing them from seeping into your RV's living spaces. Result: Odors that are normally caused by toilet flushing, leaking toilet seals, wind gusts while traveling, sloshing of tank contents or dried-out P-traps are all eliminated.
Just how effective is a Lil' Stanker? Well, many owners report that they no longer need to add deodorizing chemicals or enzymes. Thus, aside from providing welcome relief from odors, it also does away with the mess, hassles and expense of dealing with your holding tanks. A Lil' Stanker can easily pay for itself in savings on holding tank additives in just a few months!
PRODUCT FEATURES: The MK-IV has a 2-speed design that allows you to select the right fan speed for the job The powerful HIGH speed setting makes short work of sudden odors, while the LOW speed keeps battery drain to a minimum. (The fan consumes just 0.1 amps on LOW speed, making it perfect for dry-camping You can run it for weeks without significant drain on your house batteries).
The MK-IV comes complete with everything you need for quick, easy installation (except RTV Silicone sealant): A 2-speed toggle switch and enclosure, 15-foot DC power cord, installation hardware, and illustrated instructions. Installation usually takes less than 15 minutes, using ordinary hand tools. The fan can be secured to your roof entirely with silicone adhesive (not included) no need to drill roof holes (although the fan can also be secured with the included stainless steel screws). The MK-IV's universal mounting base allows it to fit any size vent pipe no pipe adapters or other fittings required.
The fan can get its power from any 12-volt source inside the RV (e.g., closet light, bathroom ceiling vent fan, refrigerator roof vent, etc.). The 2-speed toggle switch mounts in any convenient interior location It has a built-in power-on indicator light, and comes with an attractive black surface-mount enclosure. (Or, you can flush-mount the switch by itself in a wall or your own control panel, using the extra adhesive-backed switch decal included in the kit.)
SERVICE AND SUPPORT: Even though the all-stainless-steel MK-IV is obviously built to last, we stand behind all our products with a liberal 1-year warranty. Technical support, service and replacement parts are available 7 days a week.
NOTE: Although black water tanks are usually the worst odor offenders, many RV'ers will further benefit from the installation of fans on both holding tanks - This eliminates the grey water tank as a source of odors previously masked by the black water tank. For customers who choose this approach, a Twin-Pack (2 fans and a single 2-speed toggle switch) is offered at a $10 discount (see PRICING & ORDERS section below).
NOTE: The Lil' Stanker MK-IV has exactly the same size and mounting base hole pattern as the now-discontinued plastic MK-II model, making it a direct replacement.

FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS:
HOW DOES IT WORK? Lil' Stanker fans work by creating a slight, continuous vacuum inside your holding tanks. This ensures that any air leakage (due to toilet flushing, dried out P-traps, leaking toilet seals, wind gusts, open windows, outside air currents, etc.) will be into the tank, rather than out of it. Thus, tank odors are prevented from seeping into your RV's living spaces.
HOW EFFECTIVE IS IT? VERY effective! Many owners report that they no longer need to add deodorizing chemicals to their holding tanks, often saving more money than the fan originally cost.
DO I LEAVE IT ON ALL THE TIME? Yes, unless the RV is in storage. The fan motor is designed to operate continuously, and draws very little current from your house batteries. You can dry-camp for weeks without appreciably draining your batteries.
WHY 2 SPEEDS? Having a LOW speed conserves battery power and motor life, and also reduces the motor noise level. Most RVers discover that the HIGH speed setting is rarely needed (but is very useful when it is!).
HOW QUIET IS IT? On LOW speed, the fan is inaudible from more than several feet away (when standing on the roof). On HIGH speed, it can be heard from up to several yards away.
WILL IT SUCK WATER OUT OF THE TANK OR P-TRAPS? No, the fan only creates a slight vacuum - not nearly enough to pull water.
HOW DO I INSTALL THE FAN? The fan simply replaces your existing plastic or metal vent pipe cap. This involves removing the old cap, installing the MK-IV's DC power cable, and mounting the fan over the vent pipe. Since the fan attaches to the roof (rather than the vent pipe itself), any gaps between the pipe and roof must be sealed with silicone or Dicor® sealant. This sealant can also be used as the sole means of securing the fan to the roof, or can be augmented with the stainless steel mounting screws included in the kit.
HOW DO I INSTALL THE WIRING? Most RVers install the DC power cable by simply dropping it down the inside of the vent pipe before mounting the fan. If the vent pipe passes through a cabinet or other accessible point inside the RV, this allows you to drill a small hole in the pipe, snare the power cable (using the snare wire included in the kit), pull it through the hole, and connect it to any nearby closet light or other 12 power source. The toggle switch connects to this wire, and can be mounted in any convenient location. Sealing the hole in the vent pipe (using the patch included in the kit) completes the installation process.
CAN I ROUTE THE WIRING ACROSS THE TOP OF THE ROOF INSTEAD? Yes, the power cable can be run to a nearby ceiling vent or refrigerator roof vent (both of which often have a source of 12 volt power). Naturally, the cable should be protected from the elements; most hardware stores sell adhesive-backed aluminum tape that is excellent for this purpose.
CAN I FLUSH- MOUNT THE TOGGLE SWITCH IN MY WALL (OR MONITOR PANEL) INSTEAD? Yes, the switch/pilot light circuit board can be removed from the included surface-mount enclosure, allowing it to be mounted by itself in most wood paneling or metal surfaces. This involves drilling a 1/4" hole for the switch and a 1/8" hole for the pilot light. The kit includes a drilling template and spare adhesive-backed switch decal for this purpose.
WILL THE TOGGLE SWITCH CONTROL MORE THAN ONE FAN? Yes, two fans may be connected to a single toggle switch.
WILL THIS FAN REPLACE EARLIER MODELS? Yes, the MK-IV's mounting "footprint" is identical to our earlier plastic MK-II model, and is a "bolt-in" replacement for it. Usually, the new fan can be connected to the existing wiring, installing the 2-speed toggle switch as a replacement for the old 1-speed switch.
WILL IT MOUNT ON CURVED ROOFS? Yes, up to a point. The fan's base is inflexible, so any gaps must be filled with silicone or Dicor® sealant. In extreme cases, it's usually possible to fabricate a gasket from one or more layers of closed-cell foam rubber (commonly sold as exercise mats and sleeping bag pads), thereby sealing the gap on the curved side.
WHAT'S THE ADVANTAGE OVER YOUR IN-LINE MODEL? The MK-IV is usually easier to install, since it mounts on the roof. Many RVs lack sufficient space to mount the In-Line model inside a closet or other interior compartment.
IS IT REPAIRABLE? Yes, the motor is easily replaced by removing the top cover. (There is no need to separate the base from the roof). Replacement motors are available; each comes with quick-splice connectors that provide a fast, easy method of connecting the new motor to the existing DC power cable.
